(this chica was celebrating her birthday--complete with a full spread of sweets. yes, she shared! no, i won't share her age, but i will say that there has to be something magical in the water. everyone looks so young. so youthful. it's that spanish spirit. and maybe a touch of the warm, spring air. she may call everyone around her cariño--sweetheart--but she is truly a cariño.)

1. you have to constantly be learning. it doesn't stop. life teaches you what you should do. where you should go. i thought that i would work in a factory the rest of my life. but life keeps showing me new, amazing things. but it takes a gran esfuerzo--huge effort--to make things happen. to see things change in and around you.
2. that our society would change. rush, rush, rush. so much hurrying. everyone wants more, more, more. but what i don't see more of is happiness. where did that go?
3. a few years in england. it's always been there. always. in the back of my head. england! but i'm so afraid to leave. to leave my parents. to leave pamplona. to leave spain. everyone would change. change scares me!
